Design Competition
Logo

It is felt that it would be appropriate to have a competition for design of the award logo and layout. We encourage everyone with an interest in vanadium science to submit entries.

The Vanadis Award will be appropriately presented on high quality paper (dimensions not smaller than 21.5 x 28 cm).

The award script will include a logo and background, award name, the name of the recipient and a description such as "In Recognition of Outstanding Contributions to Vanadium Science" or similar. It may be in landscape or portrait orientation. Entrants can take into account modern, historical/alchemy or mythical aspects of vanadium and its science.

Entries for the competition should be provided as high resolution drawings not less than 600 dpi resolution ( see award dimensions) as either Adobe (.psd), Coreldraw (.cdr) or .tif files from other drawing software. Other electronic formats will generally not be accepted. Eight printed copies of the entries should be provided as documents suitable for the selection process. The original document should be sent in electronic form on CD although other suitable means of transfer such as FTP can be arranged. For those unable to provide an electronic document, an original hand-drafted document will be accepted if it is suitable for scanning with imaging equipment.

The entrants must certify that they have the authority to transfer copy and other proprietary rights and all present and future rights to the winning entry must be transferred in perpetuity to the International Vanadium Symposium. This certification must accompany the entry. No rights to other than those of the winning entry in the competition will be retained except with consent of the entrant.

The winning entry will be selected by an award committee consisting of the present and past chairs of the various Vanadium Symposia and will be announced at the 2004 Symposium in Szeged.

All entries must be submitted prior to April 30, 2004 and addressed to Alan Tracey
