Submission guidelines

The editors would be grateful if contributors could adhere to the following guidelines. Failure to do so will result in the article being returned to the author for amendment, or may result in its having to be excluded from the volume.

1. Submissions. Submissions should be made on 3.5 inch, high-density IBM compatible disks and in two typescripts, double-spaced with wide margins. Please send these to one of the editors: addresses are in the latest SSCLE bulletin. Remember to include your name, address and email address with your paper.

2. Length. Normally, the maximum length of articles should not exceed 6,000 words, not including notes. The editors reserve the right to abridge papers that exceed these limits.

3. Language. Papers will be published in English, French, German, Italian and Spanish.

4. Diagrams and Maps should be referred to as figures and photographs as plates. Please keep illustrations to the essential minimum, since it will be possible to include only a limited number. All illustrations must be supplied by the contributor in camera-ready copy, and free from all copyright restrictions.

5. Reviews are assigned by the Review Editor, Dr Christoph Maier. Scholars who wish to review for Crusades should apply to him.

6. Manuscript preparation

Please follow the instructions to be found at the web-site of Speculum: http://www.medievalacademy.org/speculum/speculum_submissions.htm
